We are utilizing more with O then just the standard applications so the Enterprise level worked best for us. Dropping 10K on Office - Sends shivers down my back. If you need a email client there's Thunderbird and more. I wouldn't be going to my manager saying I want to spend 10K upgrading, But I wont to save you 10K per year, but doing this.
I would also hit for a pay rise, but that's just me. Also the included office has all the apps like Access and Publisher, they are always up to date every month they release new features , and everything continues to integrate well with the web apps.

In a lot of cases Microsoft does have a home use program or hup for members of a business organization. You may want to check to see if your organization participates as this would significantly discount the cost. DaveM Independent Advisor.
